Thermographic imaging isn’t a substitute for a full electrical inspection and test, however it can supplement a limited inspection, for example a 24/7 operation where circuits simply cannot be isolated. It is a highly accurate and effective tool for identifying electrical faults.
The duty holder may opt to choose a limited inspection and supplement that inspection with a thermal image of all the visible electrical installation – minimising the impact on business whilst making efforts to prove the integrity of the installation.
Using thermographic images help our engineers accurately identify existing faults within an electrical installation, as well as predict potential future issues.
The use of thermographic cameras is becoming more and more common and widely accepted by insurance companies, the camera allows us to identify problems that the naked eye can’t, which makes the service non-intrusive and reduces the need to isolate circuits.
Thermographic Camera Functions
Thermographic cameras are handheld electronic devices with an integrated visual display, designed for detecting heat energy. Once all images have been captured we create a report and highlight any regions of excessive temperature, loose connections, over loaded cables, corrosion and faulty electrical equipment.
Thermography allows corrective action to be taken before costly system failures.
